Hamdam foundation carried out “Mangroves Reforestation and Conservation Project “at southern coastal belt of Arabian sea with the supported of UNDP GEF Small Grant Program Pakistan. SGP to manage reforestation of mangroves at 1400 acres at Saanhri Creek coastal area of Taluka Kharochan district Thatta to mobilize and organize the communities for the protection and enhancing participatory mangroves management in coastal. This initiative has eventually developed a HF program, where organization has been investing quality efforts with multiple partners since 2014, and HF has contributed to this drive in the year 2024 as well. HF has planted 150000 mangroves in August 2024 with generous support of Pathfinder International. HF has a credit to consecutively support in coastal areas conservation since a decade long effort through Mangroves plantation.
Hamdam Foundation provided relief response to 10,000 affected populations settled in camps, affected areas of district Jamshoro. The areas include; union councils Lakah NFI Kit distribution amongst 100 HHs, village Budhapur distribution of 200 tents in village Kareen Chawaro 100 tents. Distribution of NFI kit at Union Council Ali Aad, NFIs kit distribution in union Lakha amongst 1000 families. The response was provided in collaboration with IOM, UNICEF, SPO, OPP and NATOPOW. There were 3000 families were provided flood items. The 100 tents and NIFs kit were also provided during the relief activities. Apart from this ‘Building Disaster Resilience in Pakistan Program’ assigned HF for the training of Business Skills -Basic Numeracy Literacy, Life skills, Market Linkages and enterprise, Training for Community Disaster Management Committee on Leadership & Organizational, Development/ Management, Coordination & Conflict Resolution, Project Design, Implementation and Monitoring, Proposal Development Financial Management, Accountability – Gender/Children Protection - Abuse – Exploitation and labor Livestock and Asset Stock Management in Emergencies. The project was implemented by ACTED funded by CONCERN/UKAID.
HF has implemented projects on Rural Women’s Empowerment through improved vocational skills, development and enhanced access to enterprises opportunities. Hamdam Foundation signed an agreement with Community Development Program CDP, Planning and Development (P&D) Government of Sindh to undertake skill development project titled “Rural Women’s Empowerment through their improved vocational skills Development and Enhanced Access to Enterprises Opportunities in Taluka Sehwan District Jamshoro. HF provided training to 900 rural women under this program.
Hamdam foundation has completed a unique project at the slum area of Hyderabad with the help of USAID. The project has been unique because of its nature. The people of Gheera Basti (Community) belonged to downtrodden society and deprived of basic facilities of life. Historically the male does the work of “Pheri”, moving in streets with new utensils to exchange them with old cloths. They kept the basket of utensils on their head or shoulder which was very inconvenient for them. Later they altered the cloths and sell them in market on suitable price. Hamdam Foundation provided fifty “HAND CARTS” to the people of Gheera Community so that they can work easily and comfortably. Now they are working in society more confidently.
Hamdam Foundation under its umbrella organization Mashall Skill Development Center run a project entitled Enhancing Quality and Access to TVET for Employability at Aliabad District Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan in collaboration with Research and Development Foundation (RDF), funded by Oxfam Novib. Marshall Skill development Center has trained 60 right holders at its Aliabad Center. In this center, the rural women and girls got tailoring and machine embroidery training. Each right holder has been awarded with certificate by STEVTA. Apart from that ‘Improving Socio-Economic Status of Women from Urban Slums of Kandhkot has also been implemented. The project aimed ‘provision of training to rural women in the areas of craft, career counseling, marketing and life skills.
To reduce the poverty and uplifting the standard of people and specially for empowering the women, HF microfinance programme was launched in November 2007 in collaboration with Orangi Pilot Project, Karachi (OPP). More than 20 million have been disbursed to 1500 beneficiaries. More than half of them are women in Baban Shah Colony (Kachi Abbadi), Bangali Colony, Hussainabad, Hyderabad and Jamshoro. Hamdam Foundation developed strategy to expand this programme to district Matyari in the next two years. Women empowerment was primary concern of the program. Under this program women were also provided with skill development trainings and counseling for their business creation and career development.
Hamdam Foundation provided one hundred hand pumps in Jamshoro district and 100 hygiene sessions were conducted in Tando Hafiz Shah UC of district Thatta through a program called Water and Sanitation Hygiene. This project resolved the long-standing water problem for the people of Jamshoro.
Hamdam Foundation -HF organized an exhibition titled ‘Bridging Expo 2025 – Rural and Urban Women’ in district Badin on 20 and 21 Feb 2025. The event was organized in at Jamkhana district Badin. Sindh has a rich cultural heritage and diverse communities as well. The District Government fully supported this event. However, explicit disparities exist between urban and rural areas, particularly in terms of access to education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and social empowerment. Women in rural Sindh often face greater challenges due to patriarchal norms, limited resources, and lack of exposure to modern opportunities. Conversely, urban women in cities like Karachi and Hyderabad enjoy relatively better access to education, employment, and social networks. To bridge these gaps, HF has served as a powerful platform to foster understanding, collaboration, and empowerment between urban and rural women in Sindh. HF has planned very output based objectives of the Cultural Expo which included: • Highlight the shared cultural heritage of Sindh to create a sense of unity and mutual respect between urban and rural women. • Provide rural women with opportunities to showcase their skills, crafts, and traditions, while connecting them with urban markets and resources.
The School-Based Disaster Risk Management (SBDRM) training aimed to equip students, teachers, and staff with the knowledge and skills to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from various disasters. The training focused on five key hazards: Heavy Rainfall and Floods, Fire, Earthquake, Lightning, Heatwaves, Droughts and Smog Each hazard was addressed in a separate session to ensure comprehensive understanding and preparedness.
